JUNE AT THE GROOP GALLERY

June 4th was the opening night for my new feature artist Milan Basic at the new “Groop Gallery”.   The evening event was very well attended and Milan was present giving guests a ‘live’ presentation of his artistic process.   7 of his larger than life pieces are on display and will be until the end of June.

A selection of my own artwork will always be available for viewing and sale in the gallery in addition to more than 20 other amazing local artists work.

Please check out the website at www.groopgallery.com or visit the gallery at #1127-3rd avenue.

Well it’s been 17 days since the grand opening of the new ‘groop gallery’ in Prince George!  The gallery saw more than 200 people grace it’s space on      May 1st and more yet again in the evening for the opening reception of the groop show ‘Celebration’, where our city councillor Don Basserman was  in attendance to say a few words and cut the cake.

23 local and regional established and emerging artists answered the call to the theme of celebration and submitted works that surrounded this title.

More than 40 artworks currently grace the walls of the space and I intend to keep the inventory fresh.  Any artists wishing to submit their work to the gallery may check out the gallery website and click on submissions.

You may also keep watching for upcoming events, features, and new calls for submissions.

I also hope to keep this information posted on this site as well.  All the best till the next time

It’s about time I got around to updating my post-    A Happy Belated New Year to everyone!

Well, the year started off with a bang, and the fire has not let up.

‘Toys in the Attic; Beasts in the basement’ show came down Jan 3rd as planned, but we are all very pleased with the feedback and reaction we recieved from all who were able to get in to see it. We  have also come away with a guest book chock-full of wonderful comments and signatures from those who visited the exhibit-which we treasure. Thank you to those who took the time!

Now onto future projects…..  Plans are to submit the ‘Toys and Beasts’ show to Island Mountain Arts Gallery in Wells for a stint in the summer.  We’ll see what they think about it.

I’m also laying plans for another upcoming solo exhibition in a commercial space downtown-in a building that my husband and I bought last summer.   My dream plans may finally start seeing fruition since one of our tenants has moved out-leaving the space vacant for my own use.   I have always hoped to be instrumental in helping ‘grow and cultivate’ our art community, since our  local artists need more venues in Prince George in which to market their work.  I’m hoping this venue may eventually serve to help.   It will not come without much thinking and planning, but time will tell.  In order to try the space on for size in the interim however, I have also offered it up for the Environmental art show and film festival coming up in April and we’ll see if that idea flies.

Any comments, suggestions, or requests may be directed to me through this site or my e-mail address.

So, now back to trying to find some time to get back into my studio and finish some of the pieces hanging around,  awaiting the final touches!
